Course Description

Course Profile

International Relations is one of the flagship studies at the Faculty of Political Science and Journalism of Adam Mickiewicz University. Taught entirely in English gives those already fluent unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of social interactions on the global and regional levels and provide them with direct access to the original sources of scientific discussion in the discipline.

The main objective of this particular studies is not only to familiarise students with many different approaches to theorising, describing and exploring the world of international relations, but foremost help them understand the most fundamental mechanisms that underline the nature of these relations like war, peace, conflict and cooperation. To reach these objectives we supply our students with a vast array of handpicked lectures and classes: international law, management, history, economy, philosophy, international conflict resolution, international negotiations, foreign policy and cutting edge theoretical and methodological trends in the discipline.

Our highly skilled staff makes sure that the classes are thought with at most diligence. We highly recommend this studies for advanced and upper-intermediate English speakers looking to expand their knowledge of international politics, especially if they are hoping to get into the fields that require a deep understanding of these relations like international business, management, working in international organisations and politics. Graduate competencies

 A graduate of International Relations possesses general knowledge of many areas of political and public life. They are fluent in issues related to public administration, economics and social affairs.

 You will make accurate analyses of the current political situation in the world and respond to it in a dynamic manner.

 You will become an expert in different cultures and be fluent in more than one foreign language.

 The ability to use appropriate rhetoric and the knowledge you possess about the behavior and customs of representatives of other countries will make you an excellent business negotiator.

 Due to the versatility of your major, you will adapt to the changing job market much faster.

Career prospects

 International Relations is not only a discipline of science, but also practical studies that will allow you to find yourself in a difficult and rapidly changing labour market. The expertise, practical skills, exercises and internships you gain during lectures, tutorials and workshops will enable you to become mobile and competitive.

 Completion of these studies will allow you to find employment in the diplomatic and consular missions, agencies of international governmental organisations, foreign affairs departments, logistics companies and transnational corporations. These studies will also prepare future graduates to obtain European funds.

Education Requirements

Set of documents

• photo file which will be used when generating the personal questionnaire

• a scan of university diploma

• a document confirming knowledge of English at B2 level

Candidates with documents obtained abroad also provide:

• a scan of a foreign document, which is legalized or accompanied by an apostille, entitling the candidate to take up higher education studies in the country where the document was issued

• a scan of translation of the document into the language of the studies undertaken by the candidate, performed by a sworn translator entered into the list of sworn translators maintained by the Polish Minister of Justice, or certified by a Polish consul in the country where the document was issued

• a scan of the document recognizing the foreign certificate as equivalent to the Polish Matura certificate – in the case of candidates for first-cycle or long-cycle master's studies to whom this applies

• a scan of the document recognizing the foreign diploma as equivalent to the Polish diploma – in the case of candidates for second-cycle studies to whom this applies

• a scan of a document confirming the entitlement to study tuition-free – in the case of the foreigners concerned
